Štětsko

It is not fully clear today what the original and the oldest name of our town, "styet", actually stood for. There is a certain analogy with Szczecin (Pomerania, Poland) because both Štětí and Szczecin have an identical stem as well as a similar position by a large river. There is one more explanation: "ščetie = a drapery brush", used in the past for brushing clothes.
