Počeplice

Poceplice 005

Počeplice village, called Podscheplitz by the local Germans, is about 4 km southeast from Štětí to which it is integrated today. In 1888, 373 residents lived in 75 houses there. In 1939, 273 residents lived there in 78 houses and in 2000, the village had 171 residents.

Today, the Baroque-style salt production facility from the early 18th century is the most important feature in the village. It was later used as a granary and cowshed. The one-floor building has the remnants of pilasters, window framing on the facade and the two-section gables have triangle-shaped peaks. The beautiful arched Baroque-style gateway reconstructed in 2000 also belonged to the salt production facility. There is the pseudo-Gothic small church of St. John Baptist from the late 19th century on the street-type village square. In the village are also houses from early 19th century dated 1810, 1831, and 1847. These are log cabins, bricked as well as half-timbered houses with wooden arches and access balconies. In most cases, they are used as recreation buildings.
