Stračí

Stračí village, called Stratschen in German, is located 2 km eastwards from Štětí and the village was integrated with the town of Štětí in 1960. In 1888, there were 326 residents living in 59 houses. In 2000, Stračí had 158 permanent residents. In the lower part of the village square is the chapel dating back to 1818 according to the date on the gable. The chapel is consecrated to St.John and Paul, the Roman martyrs. A Madonna sculpture is located in the glass case inside the chapel. By the forest road from Ješovice to Brocno, at the halfway point, are two Baroque-style chapels standing close together. The first is consecrated to St. Mary and dates back to the end of the 18th century. The chapel was called "Mariánská" or "U krásného obrázku". In the past, a procession walked there from Štětí on St. Mary's holiday.

Not far from Mariánská pilgrimage chapel, by the former long-distance forest road from Liběchov to Radouň, is the so-called "Hraběcí chapel", built in 1720 at the location where the serfs from Snědovice attacked and shot dead their cruel master, Count Johann Wratislaw Clary one January night. There are rock sculptures close to the village if you follow the yellow hiking signs – which were carved from sandstone by the sculpture artist Václav Levý in the early 19th century. They are called Had (Snake) and Harfenice (Harp Player) and to reach them, you must pass along the pine forest. Log cabin houses with half-timbered floors, wooden gables and access balconies as well as late Empire houses in Stračí date back to around 1850. Today, many buildings are used as holiday cottages in the village.
